This course is aimed at cyclists of any discipline, or fitness level, that want to increase their understanding of how to inspect, maintain and adjust your own bike/s and those of others, to improve performance. You will be using a range of techniques including the use of video and software to interpret results and ensure you are confident in your recommendations.
This course provides a comprehensive understanding of bike fit, covering key principles of anatomy, biomechanics, and riding positions to enhance both comfort and performance. Participants will learn how to inspect and adjust critical components such as saddle height, handlebar reach, and cleat positioning to achieve an optimal riding posture.
The training also focuses on optimising rider performance by reducing strain, improving power transfer, and preventing common cycling injuries.
Through practical, hands-on experience with a variety of bike types, participants will gain the confidence and skills needed to apply professional bike fitting techniques in real-world scenarios.

Pre-fit interview, assessment, baseline measurements, adjustments and follow-up.
An overview of the body systems involved in cycling, focusing on the main muscle groups involved in creating the pedal stroke.
Understanding stack & reach, bike geometry, methods of measuring and recording angles, lengths and positions.
Cleat position, saddle position and handlebar adjustment to create a cycling position with stability, comfort, aerodynamics, or power transfer as the focus of the bike fit process.
Learning what can be adjusted or changed in a basic bike fit session; for example stem, saddle, cleats and headset.
Attendees will be checked against their current bike. Adjustments or recommendations will be made.
Discipline specific fitting: introduction into the differences involved in road, off road, triathlon and E-bike specific fitting.
Utilising advanced video analysis and software tools, students will interpret movement patterns, assess pedaling efficiency, and make data-driven recommendations.
The course culminates with a Bike Inn assessment, and if successful, a certificate of competence.

Hands-On Learning
Practical, workshop-based training.
Attendees can bring 1–2 bikes to work on during the course. If you’re unable to bring a bike, The Bike Inn will provide one for you.
The course culminates with a Bike Inn assessment, and if successful, a certificate of competence. If you would like a IMI Unit Certificate please let a member of staff know during your virtual learning. There is a additional cost of £40.00.

Attendees who wish to will have an assessment of their current training or regular cycling pattern. Advice will be provided on improving focus for achieving any goals (duration, performance, increased flexibility, weight loss etc.).
Analysis will be through verbal discussion and/or interrogation of any online training tools you may already use (such as Strava, training peaks etc.)
