Hobbled in with my road bike as the front crank had just fractured whilst out for a ride along the lanes around Appleby. John couldn’t have been more pleasant and helpful! It was fixed within 24 hours allowing me to enjoy my cycling break in and around this beautiful part of the world.. To add, it was super reasonably priced too without the need to replace the whole set up. Not a chance would I have managed to fix this issue, so I have so much gratitude for The Bike Inn and to a lovely lady called “Sally” who recommended them whilst she cycled past me and tried to help.. Thanks for saving my tour Jon!!! Your incredible level of service when my seatpost snapped on a cycle tour with friends allowed me to continue our journey and enjoy a bit of a reunion too. Wonderful service! Had a doggy buggy punture and popped by to see if they could help (I'd seen on reviews they had helped others in the same situation) Helped straight away and got us back on the road. Very helpful. Down for a few days cycling from Scotland, and having snapped the chain twice on Friday, we managed to get to The Bike Inn at 4.30. "Yes, we can fix that" was the response and the bike quickly disappeared. By tomorrow, by next week? I stood wondering. Thirty minutes later, it reappeared with a new chain and cassette. Bought a few items from bikeinn, and all were as described, albeit a little slow on delivery. Problem comes when you want to return an item. For this reason, definitely avoid unless you know it's something you wouldn't return/money you can afford to lose. Returns portal is poorly designed, needed to email to get a return submitted. Item was a faulty light which only works when plugged in to mains, bikeinn (tradeinn) offered a 20 25 perfect refund and I could keep the item, a light which does not work. Told them no, I'd like to return as it's faulty and within warranty period, and even though I was told I'd hear again in 3 days, two weeks later no word on how to progress this. I did email again, response was that I needed to wait for ruther instructions. It's becoming obvious there's no actual interest in dealing with faulty goods, and for that reason I'd insist you avoid.

Five years on from training as a Cycle Mechanic at The Bike Inn, it's time to say "it changed my life". Straight after my training in May 2020 I started a part-time business in Durham, imaginatively named "Durham Bike Repairs". It was open 2 days a week, and it was an instant success. A few years later, it enabled me to take early retirement (age 59) from a very stressful job in manufacturing and work just on bikes. I didn't get the owners name but he's a top man. Went last year after a ride to check it out and was offered a cuppa and a had a good chat. Returned earlier today to see if he could have a look at my rear derailleur and fixed the problem straight away, as well as offering both me and my gf a nice cup of tea again.
